Position Overview 

Falls & Co. is looking for an in-house research expert leading all aspects of the research process, from research design, vendor selection and research execution, to translation of data into insights that inform strategy and creative development. The ideal candidate is a business-minded, hands-on researcher who can guide clients, collaborate closely with account teams and integrated strategists, and own primary custom quantitative research initiatives from start to finish.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction and oversees the completion of all research projects being conducted within the department to bring them to a meaningful conclusion on time and on budget.
  • Contracts for outside research services based on project requirements and budget.
  • Provides timely and accurate responses to requests for information, first determining that such requests are researchable by seeking sufficient background information.
  • Provides informed options, including pros and cons of different methodologies, to internal and client teams
  • Prepares and presents research proposals either at the request of the integrated strategist, account executive or client and/or recommends additional projects of benefit for client approval.
  • Informs RFP responses and leads quantitative surveys, focus groups, one-on-one interviews, original research reports, and secondary research projects, including white paper development. 
  • Acts as a consultant and subject matter expert on research techniques, methodology, and procedures.
  • Visits outside research suppliers to supervise projects and/or explore their capabilities.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships and rapport with outside research suppliers to facilitate effective management of contracted projects and gain a well-rounded outlook as to the capabilities of various suppliers.
  • Makes client presentations, presenting the findings of research and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Keeps abreast of market research trends and research techniques.

Qualifications

  • Required 10+ years in consumer research, including at least five years in supervisory positions in a corporate research department, agency, market research or consulting firm. Agency or consultancy experience preferred.
  • Experience should be broad, covering all aspects of research and its application to a variety of brand, product and experience initiatives. Should be familiar with suppliers, field control, statistical analysis, and decision theory.
  • At least a master’s degree, or equivalent academic work. Concentration in behavioral sciences, math/statistics, or marketing.  
  • Software/Online Search/Database Experience: Office 365: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Survey Monkey, and Tableau 
  • Good managerial skills. Able to take and defend position on both research and advertising. Good oral presenter with writing skills.
